Calamba Training Bubble Ready for Filipino Boxers

The first punch towards the Olympic gold starts inside the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna.

On Friday, Filipino boxers who are both hoping to qualify for a berth in the Tokyo Olympics, and those who have secured their respective berths, began entering the Calamba training bubble to start their training for the Tokyo games. Leading the boxers who entered the bubble is Olympic hopeful in Nesthy Petecio along with 16 other boxers while already Olympic-bound in Irish Magno will follow suit on Saturday along with his Australian consultant, Don Abnett. 

Karate and taekwondo national team members are also set to enter the Calamba bubble for their respective training.

Nesthy Petecio is believed to have the best chance of qualifying for the Olympics and that, Petecio said that she will make the Philippines proud.

 “I’m determined to qualify to Tokyo and make my country proud,”

The bubble training will run for three months while the 2021 Tokyo Olympics will happen from July 23 to August 8.
