National Basketball Association (NBA) fans needed to wait one year just to see how the Kevin Durant-Kyrie Iring duo will work for the Brooklyn Nets. Two games into the 2020-2021 regular season, Durant and Irving are beginning to show how much firepower they can unleash and that's scary for the rest of the league.

On his season debut for the Nets, Kevin Durant had 22 points as he helped Irving get a 125-99 victory against Durant's former team:  the Golden State Warriors. Irving led the way with 26 points on 10 for 16 field goal shooting. That was just the beginning indeed.

On their Christmas Day game, Durant and Irving combined for 66 points en route to gifting Coach Steve Nash a 123-95 victory against the Boston Celtics- Irving's former team. Irving exploded for 37 points in another return trip to TD Garden in Boston while Durant added 29 points. The duo shot a combined 10 for 14 from the three-point line- making more threes than the entire Boston squad. In effect, the Nets are now the second-best scoring team in the NBA with a 125-point per game average with Irving and Durant being the team's one-two punch on offense. Irving is norming 31 points per game while Durant isn't far away with 25 points per game.

While Kevin Durant is playing well despite being out for 18 months due to an Achilles tear that took him out of the 2019 NBA Finals, injuries can still happen, and with the 2019 Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic not ending anytime soon, anything can happen. If both Durant and Irving can stay away from trouble, Brooklyn could be unstoppable as they already were in the first two games of the new season.
