It’s been a tough time for sports enthusiasts as we are deprived of seeing our favorite players go at each other as the sports we love are still banned due to the quarantine restriction throughout the country.
Worry no more as Smart Sports introduce a fun-filled virtual Olympics featuring different sports personality battles on mini-games that will showcase not only their competitive spirit but also their funny side that fans usually not aware of.
Hosted by Mike and Matt Nieto, Smart Sports presents Smart E-lympics! Your go-to virtual Olympics with a twist where 16 athletes fight for pride and at the same time bring that positive vibe people needed in these troubled times.
On its pilot episode, the Gilas Pilipinas back court tandem of Kiefer Ravena and Dwight Ramos go head-to-head as they were challenged by the Nieto Twins in the fastest jersey dress-up competition. The rule of the game is just simple, the Blue Eagles just needed to wear a jersey and a short one at a time until they put on five. The first one to dress up in five jersey and flex his muscles will win the challenge.
Kiefer Ravena, the first Filipino athlete to join Jordan brand and the holder of the most basketball gold medals in the Southeast Asian Games, started badly and slow, and eventually failed to recover as the last jersey he needed to put on was still on a plastic wrap.
On the other side, Dwight Ramos, the Ateneo-rookie who plays like a veteran in the last window of the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers where he normed 12.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in just 20 minutes of play, weathered the hurdle brought by his tight jerseys to win the game and enter the quarter-final stage of the e-lympics.
Both players showcase great energy and shared laughter throughout the episode. Kiefer even wishes to have a wild card game so he may still get a chance to proceed to the next round of the competition.
Catch Smart E-lympics every Wednesday and Saturday at seven in the evening on the Facebook page and Youtube channel of Smart Sports.
