On June 28, last Sunday, the Philippine Athletic Association (PATAFA) held a web conference attended by sportswriters and sports journalists from
Present were PATAFA President Dr. Philip Juico, PATAFA Secretary General Terry Capistrano, PATAFA Director for Marketing Communications Edward Kho, Fil-Heritage Olympic hopefuls William “Will” Morrison and Kristina “KK” Knott.
Questions that were asked ranging from the mental and physical state of Morrison and Knott to ways and means to stay fit and keep in shape amidst all the uncertainty and the fluidity of the situation.
Dr. Juico also answered various queries from the allowance of the coaches and athletes to requesting from the IATF the resumption of athletics.
Morrison and Knott are confident that they’ll qualify for the Olympics. Both said that they were peaking at the right time going into Olympic qualifying.
The outbreak though, had other plans which completely threw a monkey wrench in their plans of qualifying.
Personally, I’d like for them to qualify before the National Open here in Manila in December but if they can qualify before our countrymen then that would be a shot in the arm on our nation’s psyche.
