Gilas Pilipinas was beaten by Serbia, 126-67, last Monday night for its second straight loss in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Foshan, China.
The Philippine team was routed by the Serbians led by several NBA players such as Bogdan Bogdanoivc and Nikola Jokic. Gilas Pilipinas is now 0-2 heading into its final group stage match against Angola on Wednesday.
Gilas gave a fight in the early goings and posted a 9-7 lead, but that was the only time the Philippine team tasted the lead. Serbia answered with a 9-0 run and retake the lead, 16-7. The runner-up of the 2014 World Cup then put some separation from the Philippines in outscoring the opponent, 34-22, and they go into halftime with a 62-35 lead.
Serbia continued its domination in the third quarter. They outscored Gilas Pilipinas, 37-13, in the third as Serbia tallied a huge 99-48 lead.
Serbia was led by Nemanja Bjelica as he had 20 points as Bogdanovic fired 17 points. Miroslav Raduljica scored 13 points, Marko Guduric had 12 points, and Jokic had 11 points.
CJ Perez topscored for Gilas Pilipinas with 16 points followed by Paul Lee with 15 points.
