An already internationally-diverse Jordan Brand now has a Filipino on its ranks as superstar guard Kiefer Ravena joins its stable this week.
The second-generation PBA cager just came from his third season with the NLEX Road Warriors, as he showed his delight in making history with the Jumpman, as his authentic passion for basketball made him a perfect fit.
“It’s an honor for me to be part of this basketball family. I’m both thankful and excited to be the first Filipino to be a member of the Jordan Brand. Seeing how MJ played during his time in the NBA, I collected his shoes and wanted to be a part of his camps in the U.S. My first pair of basketball shoes were Jordan 9s,” said the Gilas skipper in their statement.
Ravena joins an elite company in basketball, alongside NBA superstars in Boston’s Jayson Tatum, New Orleans’ Zion Williamson and Dallas’ Luka Doncic, as well as WNBA stars Kia Nurse and Asia Durr.
No stranger in the spotlight since his days with Ateneo where he won three high school titles and two college crowns in the UAAP, Ravena bannered the flag as he was a five-time SEA Games champion from 2011 to 2019, and also took part in the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
Jordan Brand president Craig Williams welcomed Ravena to their fold, as they are inspired with the country’s basketball culture.
“Basketball has a powerful influence on youth culture around the globe, and Kiefer can inspire future generations of ballers to make an impact in their hometowns and beyond. We are united by a shared love for the game, and Kiefer – a two-time UAAP MVP and Champion – represents the passion and love for basketball that you see all over the Philippines,” he told.
