Many people thought that LaMelo Ball would be selected as the top pick in the 2020 National Basketball Association (NBA) Draft as he was one of the few high-profiled draft hopefuls back then. And yet, Anthony Edwards ended up as the top pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves followed by James Wiseman who was selected second in the draft by the Golden State Warriors. LaMelo Ball was drafted third by the Charlotte Hornets- the team owned by Michael Jordan.
Off the Record with Migs Bustos had a basketball analyst as its guest in the form of Enzo Flojo for its 16th episode on Friday. Among the topics that Flojo and Bustos discussed is the amount of talent that the 2020 draft class has. And for Flojo, LaMelo Ball could be the "steal" of this draft class even though he is in the top three of his class.
"I think LaMelo Ball could be even better than his older brother, Lonzo Ball," Flojo said.
Pointing out the lack of "hype" for this specific draft class which also lacked in high-profiled names, Flojo explained his choice. "People will remember this draft as the 'lost' draft (class) because again, there's not so much hype, not a lot of big names because we didn't see them play. But, if there's one player on this draft who could potentially become a superstar and can blindside a lot of fans, can blindside a lot of other teams, it's LaMelo Ball,"
Flojo also added, "If he listens to MJ (Michael Jordan) and to all of his advice, I think LaMelo Ball could have a pretty, good rookie season,"
Who knows? LaMelo Ball might actually be able to achieve more than what Lonzo Ball achieved in his rookie season. And beyond that.
