Alex Eala's road in her debut French Open ended Friday afternoon in Paris (evening Manila time) as she was swept by local bet Elsa Jacquemot in the girls single's semifinal.
The seventeen year-old third seed leaned on her familiarity in clay and veteran smarts to dispatch the second-seed at Roland-Garros, punching her immaculate way to the final with a 6-3, 6-2 win that took only 64 minutes at Court 14.
Jacquemot dominated Eala across the court by firing in three aces and won a whopping 76% of the first serve points, breaking the Filipina six times in the entire match. The Frenchwoman will face Russia's upset queen Alina Charaeva in the final, with the latter took down compatriot and fourth-seed Polina Kudermotova 6-7 (5), 6-2, 7-5 in the other semifinal tie.
Despite the defeat, the fifteen year-old sensational scholar from the fabled Rafa Nadal Academy is set for a huge spike in her ITF Junior Rankings after entering the French capital as the fourth best girls' player by taking advantage of the absence of France's Dianne Parry and Ukraine's Daria Snigur who both opted to play in the Women's Singles this year.
