Mapua University dominates the 4th, wins one over Saint La Salle

The Mapua University was unstoppable in the fourth quarter as it got away with a 74-55 victory over the University of Saint La Salle at the Pinoyliga Cup Division B 38 and up at STI Sta. Mesa, Sunday afternoon. 

Mapua outscored Saint La Salle 32-6 in the fourth quarter to turn a close contest into a lopsided win. 

Erwin Sta. Maria topscored for Mapua with 27 points with 6 rebounds and 4 assists while Ryan dela Cruz had his own share of 12 points and 10 rebounds. 

Saint La Salle had been controlling majority of the game, even outrebounding Mapua in the first quarter, 19-10 to build a 22-16 lead at the end of the first. 

Mapua was able to even the scoring in the second quarter but Saint La Salle still held a six point advantage at halftime, 35-29.

The see-saw battle between the two teams continued in the third quarter but Saint La Salle refused to surrender the lead and still held a 49-42 advantage entering the fourth quarter. 

The fourth quarter was a different story as Mapua shot 14/23 from the field as compared to 2/13 by Saint La Salle to turn a seven point disadvantage to a 19 point win. 

Jun Borja led Saint La Salle with 20 points and 10 rebounds in a losing effort.
