CJ Alattica scored 16 points in a balanced attack as Lyceum of the Philippines University defeated Mapua 75-64 to move up on top of the Pinoyliga Next Man cUP over the weekend at the Activate Hoop Arena in Mandaluyong City.
Five players hit double figures, and zoomed to the number one spot in the standings with a 3-1 record.
Alattica emphasized the next man up mentality as he led the team's scoring by coming off the bench, and added eight rebounds, five steals, three assists and a blocked shot in just 22 minutes of action for coach Harold Sta. Cruz.
Big man Genesis Aviles added 15 for Lyceum, while Jearolan Omandac registered a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds. Completing the quintet of double-digit scorers were Khen Caduyac and Gyle Montaño, who added 11 and 10, respectively.
It was in the second quarter when LPU made its move, outscoring Mapua 23-12.
Andre Igliane had 25 for the Cards, but the lack of support caused them to lose their second straight game to fall to 3-2.
