San Beda maximized its manpower to score a masterful 106-62 win in the Pinoyliga Next Man cUP recently at the Activate Hoop Arena in Mandaluyong City.
The Red Lions’ Team Behold of coach Andre Santos were roaring for the entire 40 minutes, in which the game was practically settled at the opening period where they held the Fighting Maroons’ second squad to just seven points, notching their second straight win in the process and move to the top of the standings with a 2-0 record.
The backcourt duo of Emman Tagle and James Payosing teamed up for SBU as they scored 19 and 14 points, respectively, as the tandem connected 50 percent from the field, including 7-of-11 from rainbow country.
Center Clifford Jopia pounced the paint with a double-double effort of 13 points and 19 rebounds - 12 of them of the offensive boards.
Missing the likes of Ernest Felicilda, Reyland Torres, Mark Belmonte, and coach Christian Luanzon was too much for UP to bear.
Jaggie Gregorio led the Maroons with 37 points.
