Gilas Pilipinas was coming off a big win against Thailand to open the second window of the 2021 International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Asia Cup Qualifiers in Bahrain and pundits expect the Thais to make the necessary adjustments for their second encounter against the Filipinos.
Gilas, for its part, is already making one big change for the November 30 game.
The national team announced the final 12 players who will play in the November 30 game led by Dwight Ramos who led the Filipinos in scoring with 20 points on Friday. Joining Ramos are Justine Baltazar, Kenmark Carino, Isaac Go, Juan and Javi Gomez De Liano, Dave Ildefonso, Matt Nieto, Kobe Paras, Calvin Oftana, Jaydee Tungcab, and Rey Suerte.
Oftana, the reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), and Tungcab are getting the spots of William Navarro and Mike Nieto who have regulated to being reserves. In Gilas' 93-61 win against the Thais on Friday, Mike Nieto contributed eight points, two assists, and a rebound while William Navarro added four points.
