Eumir Marcial's preparation for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics takes another step as he is about to make his debut as a professional boxer.

Just two months into his professional training under Coach Freddie Roach and six months since he was signed to a six-year professional deal with MP Promotions, the Zamboanga native is scheduled to hit the boxing ring as he is pitted against Andrew Whitfield in a four-round middleweight fight on December 16, 2020 (December 17 Manila time). Coming into this fight, Whitfield has a 3-1 professional record with two wins coming via knockouts.

The fight will take place as part of the Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) event at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Even though he is set to debut as a professional debut, Marcial remains focused on a bigger prize: to become the First Filipino to win an Olympic gold medal. "My ultimate goal has always been to make my dad's dream a reality. A dream he has had since my first amateur fight. To win an Olympic gold medal. That is the prize I have in my eyes.  I want to be the first to bring Olympic gold back to the Philippines." he said in an interview.
