This is one game that the Los Angeles Lakers should have lost after allowing the comeback kids to erase a 16-point lead. In the end, Anthony Davis had the laughter against Nikola Jokic and company.
Anthony Davis drilled a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Lakers a 105-103 Game Two victory against the ever-resilient Denver Nuggets. The Lakers are now up 2-0 in the National Basketball Association (NBA) Western Conference Finals and have moved two wins away from returning to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010.
Davis came alive in the second half and finished with 31 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks. LeBron James had 26 points (20 in the first half), 11 rebounds but he also had six of the Lakers' 23 turnovers. Danny Green and Kentavious Cardwell-Pope each scored 11 points although Green struggled anew- shooting just three for 10 from downtown. Despite their struggles from the three-point line, the Lakers (36%) shot better than the Nuggets (33%) from that area. Los Angeles outrebounded Denver, 44-31.
Nikola Jokic kept Denver in the game as he made a 10-footer that gave Denver their final taste of the lead. Jokic finished with 30 points, nine assists, six rebounds, and four steals. Jamal Murray added 25 points but also turned the ball over five times. He also shot two for nine from long distance. Michael Porter Jr. added 15 points off the bench for Denver who outscored the Lakers, 53-45 in the second half. The Nuggets also shot 47% from the field and outscored the Lakers in points in the paint, 38-34.
In the end, Anthony Davis managed to drill one more three for the Lakers.
