With the positive outcome of the Tournament Coaches' Course, the Coaches' Academy of the Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas will hold a second women's course that will tip off tomorrow.
In conjunction with the Singapore office of FIBA, the SBP launches Women in Basketball: Growing the Game which was more open than the TCC which only had the women's basketball coaches of the UAAP as participants.
Coaches' Academy head Jong Uichico was optimistic of the upcoming course that will have international participants apart from the Filipino coaches.
In fact it was on demand that the allotment of 500 persons was already filled, a proof in making efforts to make Women's Basketball at par with the men's game.
"We also like the game to grow in the Philippines," said the multi-titled mentor, as he stressed the need for more programs to the distaff side.
The panelists of the said course were star-studded, which was led by Tom Hovasse, the head coach of Japan's women national team who are the queens of Asian basketball the past decade, having won the last four FIBA Women's Asia Cups.
With the Filipinos' passion of the game an undeniable fact, Uichico sees the need for the women's game to grow further and continue their momentum after their historic feat in the Southeast Asian Games where Gilas Women finally get the elusive golden glory.
"We should use that passion to generate the positivity," he then said.
