Paul Lee and the Magnolia Pambansang Manok won for the third time in a row, defeating Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, 89-79.
Lee scored 22 points, 3 assists, 9/9 on the free-throw line, and some clutch play near the end. Ian Sangalang, on the other side, contributed 17 points and 1 block to Magnolia's scoring.
Magnolia edged Pambansang Manok and Barangay Ginebra in the 1st quarter, tying at 22. The 2nd quarter (24-20) and 3rd quarter (21-14) favored Magnolia. The 4th quarter is back and forth, with everyone vying for the loose ball to take the lead and win the game.
Magnolia was 11 rebounds ahead against Ginebra, 59-48. Despite of the bad 3 point shooting performance of Magnolia, they managed to take advantage of the free-throw line with 87%, shooting 27/31 free-throws.
In the fourth quarter, Stanley Pringle carried them alone, but his efforts were insufficient to take the lead or tie the game. He led Ginebra with his 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists in the game, as the team falls to a losing record once again with 1-2 on the standings tied with Phoenix, NorthPort, and Alaska.
“Maganda yung start, but we remain humble, pero kailangan pa rin naming mag-trabaho kasi maaga pa,” Magnolia Head Coach Chito Victolero said.
