The ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) has been a rich source of talented Filipino-foreign players who eventually make their way to the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and a lot of them are already big shots in the Philippines like Matthew Wright, Stanley Pringle, Christian Standhardinger, and even Ray Parks Jr.
And it's not stopping anytime soon.
Jason Brickman, Jeremiah Gray, and Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser are set to add to the number of former ABL players who will make the jump to the PBA as they became the latest entrants to the 2021 PBA Rookie Draft which is set on March 14, 2021. Incidentally, all three played for San Miguel Alab in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) league.
Among the three, Brickman's name is sure to attract the most interest in this draft class. Even Jimmy Alapag who coached Brickman with Alab compared the now 29-year old Brickman to John Stockton of the Utah Jazz in the National Basketball Association (NBA). In the previous ABL season, Jason Brickman averaged eight points, nine assists, and four rebounds while shooting 45% from the field.
Jeremiah Gray's numbers aren't far as he normed eight points, three rebounds, two assists, and a block during his lone season with Alab. Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser, the brother of Matt Ganuelas-Rosser of the San Miguel Beermen in the PBA, averaged four points and two rebounds in his second season with Alab Pilipinas.
These latest entrants add a huge amount of talent to an already deep draft class.
