RR Pogoy has already scored 45 points in a game for the TNT Tropang Giga. Ray Parks has one 40-point game too. Even JP Errran has broken his previous career-high with 27 points. Then, you have a Jayson Castro who is averaging 18 points in the five games that he played thus far inside the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) bubble in Clark and he is doing so with him coming off the bench. In their 109-98 stunning loss at the hands of the NLEX Road Warriors, Castro led the way with 27 points with 18 of those coming in the first quarter where he made all of his three attempts from the three-point line.
The only missing link for TNT: Troy Rosario and his consistent numbers.
In fact, we have yet to see a breakout game from Rosario in the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup.
On Thursday against NLEX, Troy Rosario finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds but he also had six turnovers. He shot five for 14 from the field, one for five from the three-point line, and missed all of his four attempts from the free-throw line.
His best game inside the bubble happened against the TerraFirma Dyip when Rosario finished with 20 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists but he also shot three for 11 from the two-point area. Since then, his numbers have gone up and down but one thing remained consistent: his inconsistency on the offensive. In the six games of TNT's campaign, Rosario is putting up 14 points and nine rebounds per game but his field goal shooting is a different story. Overall, he is making 39% of his attempts. From the three-point line, he is shooting 25%. From the free-throw line, he is shooting 57%.
Fortunately for Rosario and the rest of the Tropang Giga, they are still sitting atop the team standings with a 5-1 slate but Troy Rosario needs to find that consistency he is lacking on the offensive end quickly as TNT's three of their next four games are against the top teams in the PBA. If he can solve the missing link in his game, that would make TNT a more formidable team.
